The Reading Cafe -
A Therapeutic Book Club

What is "The Reading Cafe" and what is it not?

The Reading Cafe is a group that meets online 1x per week in order to discuss and have support around the topics of the assigned book. You, and a small group of participants will come together over the course of 6 weeks to read a potentially transformational book to foster self-learning and transformation.
It is NOT a treatment group, and it is NOT an emotional support group. 

Our goals for this group are:

  • to increase motivation for reading helpful books by doing it in the context of a community.

  • to encourage each other to experience certain kinds of books through a therapeutic lens.

  • to deepen understanding of concepts in our books through discussion and exercises.

  • to facilitate some sense of community in this isolated time of the pandemic.

  • to make these things accessible to folks across the nation in terms of time and finance


What will we do in it? We will have small group discussions on the chapter(s), work on related exercises, and discuss questions that you can email me before the group (or ask during it).
